Set in a medieval village of Bossolasco between the vine covered hills of the Langhe, the boho-chic Le Due Matote is housed in a charming stone building. The Langhe is well known for its truffels, which can be “hunted” with a specialized guide in autumn. Year-round, the famous Barolo and other wines from the Piedmont can be enjoyed.
Le Due Matote can be rented as a whole and offers 8 double rooms and three splendid suites. All have an authentic, lived-in feeling with period decorations, exposed beams and parquet floors. Luxuries include Dorelan mattresses, a luxury courtesy set from Ortigia, bathrobes and slippers, a Nespresso machine and ✅ free mineral water and softdrinks from the minibar. All come with a private bathroom and an LCD TV and DVD player.
Breakfast is an a-la-carte affair with (organic) specialities from the region: jams, honey, cakes, bread and is served in the atmospheric breakfast room, or weather permitting, on the terrace by the pool. Fresh eggs, ham, and milk come from a nearby farm. Special dietary requirements, vegan and vegetarian products can be arranged if requested in advance.
A local restaurant can be found nearby or guests can try a hand at the cooking lessons to produce potato gnocchi, truffle fondue, vegetable flan, porcino mushroom tajarin, stuffed tomatoes, potato salad and many desserts. All accompanied by a large range of Piedmont wines from the cellar excavated from the rocks.
There is a small but spa with showers, a sauna, an infra-red sauna and a massage room. The sauna is aromatic with hay and mountain herbs while the soap scrub, instead, is Moroccan, and contains only plant elements and olive oil. After-sauna body creams are from Ortigia. Specific massages for back and muscle problems, or relaxing, facial and draining massages are available. Free bikes are available.
